Private loan programs
Missouri State Medical Foundation Loan
The Missouri State Medical Association offers as much as $10,000 a year
in loans to upper-level, needy Missouri medical students. Interest accrues
at 7.3% from the date of disbursement. You have to pay the interest
during your residency. This loan requires a cosigner and is limited
to second-, third- and fourth-year students. The state medical association
also offers fourth-year medical students a 7.3% interview and relocation
loan. Applications are available from the MU School of Medicine Financial
Aid Office.
Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis Loan
The Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis offers an interest-free loan
for needy students from St. Louis City and Franklin, Jefferson, St.
Charles and St. Louis counties. Parents' income and assets are considered
until age 24. The typical award is $6,000 a year. All application materials
should be submitted by April 15, 2006, for the 2006-2007 school year.
