Each summer, the School of Medicine provides a multi-day Orientation and White Coat Ceremony for incoming first-year students the week prior to the first day of class. This year’s Orientation will be July 27 - July 30. The White Coat Ceremony is currently scheduled for August 2nd. During Orientation, incoming students will meet the medical school administration, experience a practice PBL case, take tours of the facility and Columbia, enjoy interacting with classmates during social activities, and learn more about medical school and medicine in general.

Two or three current first-year/rising second-year students will serve as Orientation Leaders. Their tasks will include organizing specific events during Orientation including providing two sessions; contacting and arranging session speakers and facilities; encouraging classmates to help with Orientation activities, White Coat Ceremony, and social activities; revising the Panacea; assisting with organization of the White Coat Ceremony; and helping with white coat distribution at the Ceremony.

Tasks will require significant time commitment throughout May, June, and July, and full-time attendance and participation during Orientation Week and White Coat Ceremony.

The stipend is $2000.
