Overview

As a strategy for improving scientific excellence, a Scientific Peer Review Committee (SPRC) has been activated in collaboration with schools/colleges that are collaborating in the campus-wide CTSA effort. The SPRC is chaired by Dr. Michael Perry and includes members from SOM, the Sinclair School of Nursing, the School of Health Professions, the College of Engineering, and the College of Veterinary Medicine. The primary purpose of the SPRC is to provide a constructive, educational pre-review of extramural research applications for faculty members (from all participating schools/colleges) who wish to avail themselves of the service. Pre-submission review by the SPRC will require that “substantially complete” applications be made available two months in advance of the submission deadline and that RFA guidelines be provided to reviewers. In cases where scientific expertise does not exist among SPRC members, ad hoc reviewers (either internal or external) will be obtained.
