Summary

Accurately projecting the physician workforce in Missouri has become more challenging as state monitoring and reporting systems have been restructured over the past several years. It would be beneficial to have a student conduct a needs assessment of MD's in MO. The assessment could examine a particular practice/specialty (i.e. GPs, FPs, Internists, etc). While documenting the needs for that physician group across the state, the paper would also document changes in the recording and reporting of physician licensure data and the implications these changes have on the accuracy of health manpower modeling/forecasting. The paper could propose policy recommendations aimed at resolving any data collection/reporting issues uncovered during the course of the study. In addition to working with CHP core staff and faculty, this student would also work with Dr. Hicks in HMI and with OSEDA to conduct this type of study.
