Charles W. Caldwell,
MD, PhD
Professor of Path & Anat Sci-Anatomic Pathology, Co-Investigator MU-iCATS Charles W. Caldwell, MD, PhD, is responsible for overall leadership and administration of a comprehensive informatics program that will effectively integrate diverse informatics expertise from across the entire MU campus.
Dr. Caldwell is an internationally known epigenetics and bioinformatics
researcher and educator; he also serves as the Director of the Ellis Fischel Cancer
Center and the MU Informatics Institute. Dr. Caldwell earned his undergraduate degree
in medical technology from Arkansas State University and his master's, medical and
doctoral degrees from MU. He was a resident physician in pathology from 1981 to
1984 and then a research fellow in leukemia at the National Cancer Institute.
His
research remains in the areas of human leukemia and lymphoma, but he also facilitates
campuswide cancer research in his role as director at Ellis Fischel. His clinical
expertise is in diagnosing hematologic malignancies. He has nearly 100 research
publications and 2 patents for his work.
