Message from the Chairman

Welcome to MU Neurology!
Our mission is excellence in clinical care for our patients and in education for our medical students, our residents and the community, with opportunities for research thereby helping to advance the care for our patients and education of our trainees. Current trainees have ~10 accepted papers for presentation at national meetings (e.g., AAN, APSS).

Pradeep SahotaUniversity of Missouri Columbia, the home of the Missouri Tigers, is a proud educational institution with more than 150 years of history behind it. We boast of an excellent medical school with a problem based curriculum and student performance way ahead of national average.

Within the school of Medicine, Neurology is an independent department located on the fifth floor of the new Clinical Services and Education building. In a changing healthcare environment, we offer comprehensive clinical care to patients with different neurological problems. Apart from general neurology, our faculty have special interest and expertise in epilepsy, sleep disorders, clinical neurophysiology, neuromuscular diseases, behavioral neurology, stroke/cerebrovascular diseases, movement disorders and multiple sclerosis. In addition, there are several joint-appointed faculty members with expertise in various subspecialty areas (e.g., neuropsychiatry, neuro-ophthalmology, neuropathology, neuro-rehab, pain medicine etc.). A state-of-the-art clinical neurophysiology lab and fully accredited Sleep Disorders Center are key components of the program.

We have a fully accredited residency program in Adult Neurology and we also offer a fellowship position in sleep medicine. Training opportunities are provided at the University Of Missouri Hospitals and Clinics and at the Harry S Truman VA Medical Center. We provide education to medical students, rotating residents and fellows from other areas (e.g., neurosurgery, internal medicine, psychiatry and pulmonary medicine).

Faculty members have areas of particular clinical and research interest, and you will get a feel of their interests and accomplishments as you visit us. In summary, you will find that MU Neurology offers tremendous learning opportunities at all levels in a warm, friendly, family-oriented atmosphere. Thank you for your interest and we look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes,

Pradeep Sahota MD, FAAN
