CUTANEOUS MICROGRAPHIC SURGERY
Pre-Operative Instructions
- Do not drink alcohol or eat foods containing garlic, take gingko biloba or ibuprofen (such as Advil) for two days before or after your surgery. These may increase your tendency to bleed.
- On the day of surgery:
- Eat a good breakfast unless advised otherwise.
- Wear comfortable clothing and think of ease of removal if your surgery is on an area covered by clothing. Wear nothing that must be pulled over the head if your surgery is on your face.
- The procedure may require all day to complete. Bring something to read or occupy your time. Don’t plan on any other activities for the day. Please do not bring young children with you.
- Plan for someone to drive you home after the procedure. You may also want their company during the day.
- Make sure you inform our doctor or nurse in advance of any special medical problems you may have such as a history of artificial heart valves, rheumatic fever or heart murmur. Any of these may require pre and postoperative antibiotics. Also, please inform us if you are a hepatitis or HIV carrier. We would also like to know if you faint easily.
