Hypertension and the CardioMetabolic Syndrome

Abstract Instructions:

    • Submissions:  Abstract submissions will be accepted for review beginning September 18, 2009; last date to submit abstracts will be September 28, 2009.  Abstracts must be submitted via email to Claire Oser at oserc@health.missouri.edu.  Notification of acceptance or rejection will be made by October 2.  Abstracts that are selected will be presented in a poster forum at the conference.  Poster presenters who are traveling will be awarded a travel grant to include lodging, registration and meals.  All abstracts selected will be included in the conference syllabus.
    • Content:  Abstracts should relate to Hypertension and Metabolic related Cardiovascular Disease.
    • Title:  The title should be brief, clearly indicating the nature of the presentation.  It should appear in Title Case (not all caps or lower case), bolded, and italicized.
    • Authors:  List all author’s names and institutions.  Underline the presenting author’s name and institution only.
    • Acknowledgements:  Acknowledgements of grant support or funding may be provided at the end of the abstract.
    • Body of Abstract:  250 word limit or space limitation one page (8.5 x 11).  State the purpose of the study (preferably in one sentence).  State methods used.  Summarize results presented in sufficient detail to support conclusions.  State the conclusions reached.  (It is not satisfactory to say “The results will be discussed”).  Include tables or images only if they are simple, neat and fit within the allowed size limits.  You may include both a table and an image but no more than one of each.  Use standard abbreviations, e.g. RBC.  Use kg., gm., mg., ml., L (liter), mEQ., M (meter), and % (percent).  Place a special or unusual abbreviation in parentheses after the full word the first time it appears.  Use numerals to indicate numbers, except to begin sentences.  Use non-proprietary (generic) names of drugs.
    • File Submission:  Preferred file format is Microsoft Word.  No fax copies will be accepted in lieu of an electronic file submission.
    • Accepted Abstracts:  Will be presented in a poster forum.  Poster size must be 36”H x 48” W.  Tri-fold cardboard display boards will be provided as well as easels or table tops for presenting posters.
