David Cravens, MD, MSPH, CMD, and other MU geriatrics faculty and fellows will debate the pros and cons of controversial issues in the prevention of falls in the long term care setting.

Issue 1:  Hip protectors in long term care: Ready for prime time?
Issue 2: Vitamin D for fall prevention: Hope or hype?

Audience Objectives:

  • Participants will be able to identify the pros and cons of utilizing hip protectors for the prevention of hip fractures in long term care.
  • Participants will be able to identify the pros and cons of utilizing vitamin D to prevent falls.
