Preoperative Clinic

The preoperative clinic, open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., serves the needs of patients scheduled for surgery, including Same Day Surgery and Day of Surgery Admissions patients, and for non-surgical procedures for which anesthesia is an option such as childbirth, MRIs and cardioversions.

The clinic is staffed by anesthesiologists, nursing and patient account staff. Patient visits to the preoperative clinic are usually one to two hours in duration. It is during this time that anesthesia evaluations and appropriate patient paperwork and needs are addressed. A visit can be scheduled up to 30 days prior to surgery, and should be scheduled at least two days before surgery to coordinate lab/CXR/EKG, insurance and other needs.
