Thank you for visiting MU’s Medical Alumni Organization
50th Anniversary - Homecoming
More than 20 young physicians made history 50 years ago when they received the first medical degrees awarded by the University of Missouri’s new four-year medical program. At the 50th Annual Physicians Alumni Weekend in October 2007, MU’s medical school celebrated the Class of 1957 as well as the thousands of other physician graduates who trained at MU and the faculty leaders who inspired them.

The first public medical school west of the Mississippi River, MU’s medical school actually began awarding medical degrees more than 160 years ago. Today, MU’s medical school has more than 600 faculty physicians and scientists who teach approximately 1,000 medical students, residents, fellows and other students seeking advanced degrees. Their research is focused on lifesaving discoveries that address the most prevalent health problems.
